Fulbrightweb.org has been discontinued. In its place, Fulbrightmail.org email accounts are now available. Here are some next steps to start your new email account, as well as to transfer files from your old email account.
Plus, learn how to easily register for the Fulbright community at alumni.state.gov.
As of March 31, 2009, we successfully transitioned Fulbrightweb.org to the new Fulbright Community on State Alumni. The State Alumni website, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is an interactive networking tool for all participants of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs. The Fulbright Community on State Alumni brings together current Fulbright program grantees and Fulbright alumni. This special section of the State Alumni site serves as a professional support network for nearly 300,000 Fulbright alumni worldwide. All Fulbrighters past and present are eligible to register for State Alumni at http://alumni.state.gov/fulbright.
With Fulbrightweb.org coming to an end, so too has its corresponding email account (yourname@fulbrightweb.org). However, a new email account has been reserved for all Fulbright alumni: yourname@Fulbrightmail.org. Please note the new extension (Fulbrightmail.org.)
To complete the transition to the new email account, here are some good next steps. First, what would you like to do?
I want to reserve my new Fulbrightmail.org email account. Do I have to join the new Fulbright community on the Alumni.State.gov web site?
Yes! The process is easy. First, register with the Fulbright Community at http://alumni.state.gov/fulbright. After your information is verified, a new Fulbrightmail.org account will be automatically assigned to you. This typically occurs within 1-2 weeks of your verification date.
While my information is verified, I am waiting for my new Fulbrightmail.org account. In the meantime, I have been exploring the Alumni.State.gov web site. I now have some questions. To whom shall I write?
If you have questions during your exploration of the online Fulbright Community at http://alumni.state.gov/fulbright, contact webmaster@alumni.state.gov.
I registered for the Alumni.State.gov web site’s Fulbright community, and have been waiting for more than two weeks for my new Fulbrightmail.org email account to be activated. What is taking so long?
Have you received a verification notice yet? If not, we may be having difficulty finding record of your program participation. If there are alternate spellings of your name, if you were unsure of any of the details of your program participation, or if there are any errors in your profile, please let us know. Also, please ensure that you indicated your approval for us to contact you about the new email address activation. When you registered for the Fulbright community at Alumni.State.gov, you were asked if you wanted to be contacted after the verification process. If you told us you wanted to be contacted, then a Fulbrightmail.org email address will be automatically assigned to you upon verification. If you indicated that you did not want to be contacted, a Fulbrightmail.org account will not be created and you should write to webmaster@alumni.state.gov to request an email address.
I had an old Fulbrightweb.org account, and still need to access my files and folder. Help!
The final deadline to transfer your old contacts, emails, and files from the now-defunct Fulbrightweb.org account is now June 5, 2009, at 12 p.m. Eastern time. This deadline will NOT be extended. The Fulbrightweb.org system has been re-constructed to allow for last-minute transfers. Visit http://mail.fulbrightweb.org before June 5 to move the contents of your inbox and contacts onto the new Fulbrightmail.org email account (or any other email account). This is a manual and possibly time-consuming process, depending on the volume of information you need to salvage. Allow yourself sufficient time before the final deadline arrives.
After June 5, 2009, what happens to data and email messages on my old Fulbrightweb.org email account?
All data, email messages, and contacts must be moved out of your old Fulbrightweb.org account and saved elsewhere before June 5 at noon (Eastern time) or it will be permanently lost. It is no longer possible to receive, fetch or forward email messages sent to the old Fulbrightweb.org accounts.
I have more questions. Where can I turn to for help?
